Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist

About the role

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist will ensure that all occupational hygiene, health, and safety regulations are fully complied with on construction and infrastructure projects. You will develop and maintain safety plans, coordinate with authorities, and foster a strong safety culture among all site personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with OHS regulations, laws, and standards.
• Develop, implement and keep safety, hygiene and occupational health plans up to date.
• Manage permits and authorizations required by competent authorities.
• Supervise on‑site safety measures, report deviations and non‑compliance.
• Plan and deliver safety training sessions, talks and workshops for construction personnel.
• Promote best practices and monitor the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Coordinate OHS matters with the Project Manager and government authorities.
• Prepare technical reports and track OHS management indicators.
• Identify risks, incidents and emergency situations, proposing preventive and corrective actions.

Required profile

• University degree in Industrial, Civil or Sanitary Engineering, Architecture or a related field with specific OHS training.
• Knowledge of the General Law on the Prevention of Occupational Risks in the Workplace.
• 3–5 years of experience as an OHS Specialist on construction or infrastructure projects, preferably in sanitary sewerage, water supply or stormwater drainage.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of national regulations and best practices in industrial and construction safety.
• Strong communication skills, proactive attitude, ethical conduct and ability to work in teams.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to use reporting systems, risk control tools and safety databases.
