Cloud Support Engineer

About the role

The Cloud Support Engineer provides technical assistance to customers of a leading cloud computing provider, focusing on Google Cloud storage, database, serverless and networking services. Working within TELUS Digital’s 24 × 7 global support team in El Salvador, the engineer collaborates with product engineers, SMEs and managers to resolve issues and improve platform reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support for Google Cloud Storage, databases, serverless solutions and networking.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer incidents, contributing to platform development and improvement.
• Advise customers on optimal use of cloud networking, storage and serverless services.
• Collaborate with the support team to maintain high‑quality, efficient service delivery.
• Stay current with new cloud networking releases, changes and service deprecations.

Required skills

• Linux system administration and Windows Server administration.
• Strong networking knowledge (NAT, DNS, firewalls, routing, load balancing).
• Cloud storage concepts (object storage, data lakes, database storage) and related troubleshooting tools (ping, netstat, traceroute, dig, route, TCPDump).
• Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud logging/monitoring.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, VPN, VPC, and at least one other cloud storage service (Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage).
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and programming languages such as Python or Java.
