Database Administrator

About the role

The Database Administrator reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager and is responsible for the availability, performance, and security of Gildan’s global database ecosystem, covering Oracle, SQL Server, and cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, configure, maintain, and upgrade enterprise Oracle, SQL Server, and cloud databases (Azure/Snowflake) while enforcing standards.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks through index, memory, CPU, and space analysis.
• Collaborate with BI and development teams on database design, SQL scripting, and stored‑procedure tuning.
• Manage change implementations, ensuring thorough testing to avoid downtime.
• Enforce security policies, manage user profiles, and maintain SOX documentation.
• Maintain and test the Disaster Recovery plan and keep documentation up to date.
• Provide technical support to internal clients and communicate system changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of production DBA experience in a multi‑platform enterprise.
• Experience working in a regulated environment with strict security protocols.
• Willingness to participate in a rotational on‑call schedule for 24/7 support.

Required skills

• Oracle database administration and performance tuning.
• Microsoft SQL Server administration and performance tuning.
• Cloud database platforms – Azure and/or Snowflake.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of SOX compliance and database security.
