Facilities Technician (Electrical/Mechanical)

About the role

The Facilities Technician (Electrical or Mechanical) supports the Facilities Team Leader in maintaining reliable electrical supply and air‑conditioning systems for TELUS Digital. The role involves inspecting electrical equipment, identifying hazards or defects, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, troubleshoot and prioritize preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Maintain and repair basic building operating systems, research and procure parts and equipment.
• Test electrical circuits and components using ohmmeters, voltmeters or oscilloscopes to verify safety and compatibility.
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain HVAC and lighting systems.
• Assemble and calibrate electrical prototypes and testing instruments using hand tools and measurement devices.
• Interpret building plans, diagrams and specifications to resolve on‑site technical design issues.
• Respond to maintenance emergencies, including after‑hours call‑backs.
• Collaborate closely with the IT department and supervise third‑party service providers to ensure safe, sustainable operation compliant with TELUS standards.

Required profile

• Leadership, teamwork and customer‑orientation.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Basic English communication skills (≈40% oral and written).
• Knowledge of general building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing and painting (intermediate).
• Understanding of PLC control, variable‑speed drives and automation.
• University degree or technician diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (desirable).
• Electrician Category III certification (SIGET) and ~3 years experience with building electrical installations, panels, diesel generators and maintenance (desirable).
