Internal Audit Associate

About the role

RSM is seeking a detail‑focused and inquisitive associate to join the Internal Audit team within the Office of Risk Management. The role supports the firm’s commitment to quality by executing risk‑based testing of IT general controls, application controls and key reports that underpin the System of Quality Management.

Key responsibilities

• Execute risk‑based testing of IT general controls (ITGCs), IT application controls (ITACs) and key reports supporting RSM’s System of Quality Management (SOQM).
• Participate in walkthroughs, document control descriptions and test procedures, and record results in line with internal audit and quality standards.
• Evaluate design and operating effectiveness of IT controls, identify exceptions and assess their risk and impact.
• Collaborate with internal IT stakeholders to understand the control environment and support remediation of identified issues.
• Support the firm’s quality‑management risk assessment process in accordance with ISQM 1, SQMS 1, PCAOB QC20/Q30 and related standards.
• Perform non‑IT, operational audit activities, including risk assessments, process walkthroughs and control testing.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented and inquisitive mindset with strong analytical abilities.
• Interest in internal audit, risk management and IT control frameworks.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and business owners.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Understanding of IT general controls, IT application controls and audit methodologies.
• Familiarity with industry‑leading frameworks for IT risk management.
