Senior AI Engineer (Remote, San Salvador)

About the role

Blacksmith Agency is building AI into every part of its work. As Senior AI Engineer, you own and ship the internal automation roadmap: production LLM and agent systems used daily by real people on the team. This is a builder role, not research, and you will not train models. It is a full-time seat and must be your only job.

The position is remote, open to Latin America and South Africa, and the company hires engineers who have already shipped an LLM system to production and can explain it in detail.

Key responsibilities

• Build agents and workflows with tool use and function calling on Anthropic and OpenAI, using a framework or plain APIs.
• Create evals that show improvements and guardrails that prevent unsafe or incorrect model actions.
• Integrate WordPress, Figma, Google Workspace, Slack and internal systems, including MCP servers.
• Built internal tools that save measurable hours on delivery, sales operations and project management.

Required profile

• 2+ years building production software in Python or TypeScript / Node.js.
• At least one LLM or agent system you built yourself that ran in production with real users.
• Hands-on experience with tool use, evals and failure handling, including validating model output, retries and human approval.
• REST APIs, webhooks and cloud deployment.
• Strong spoken English, since you will discuss technical decisions on live calls with a US team.
• Not a fit if you freelance or contract for other clients alongside this job, or if your LLM work is demos, tutorials or chat prompting, or focused on model training and research.

To apply, submit an application and complete a short 6-minute Predictive Index assessment with the same email; qualified candidates then take a recorded interview in English about systems they have shipped.
