Software Architect (AWS, NodeJS) – Remote Latin America

About the role

Bluelight is seeking a senior Software Architect to lead the design and delivery of high‑performance, cloud‑native applications for clients across the United States and Latin America. This remote position offers the chance to shape architecture for low‑latency services, multi‑tenant platforms, and data‑intensive systems while collaborating with a fast‑growing consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Design low‑latency service architectures on AWS, selecting appropriate queues, caches, and search projections.
• Define explicit latency budgets (p95/p99) and implement synchronous durable commits for hot paths.
• Architect audit and evidence systems, including append‑only event logs and deterministic replay.
• Develop secure multi‑tenant solutions, evaluating RLS, schema‑per‑tenant, and database‑per‑tenant trade‑offs.
• Design and build scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations.
• Create capacity models and cloud cost/performance projections following the AWS Well‑Architected Framework.
• Establish technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineering teams.
• Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical decision records (ADRs) and present decisions to clients and security reviewers.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years in an architecture‑focused role.
• Deep expertise in AWS service design, latency budgeting, and multi‑tenant security.
• Strong background with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and Row‑Level Security at the data‑modeling level.
• Proven ability to design audit/evidence systems and fail‑open/fail‑closed semantics.
• Experience delivering large, complex end‑to‑end systems and overlapping US business hours.
