Wintel System Administrator – Global IT Infrastructure

About the role

Gildan is looking for a System Administrator to own, support, and secure its localized and global IT infrastructure. This hybrid position spans on‑premises Windows servers, Azure cloud services, VMware virtualization, and manufacturing execution systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Global Wintel team to implement and troubleshoot Dell/Cisco compute servers, VMware environments, and legacy tape libraries.
• Maintain core Microsoft services including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SharePoint, and File/Print servers.
• Administer Azure resources such as virtual machines and Azure SQL Managed Instances.
• Oversee enterprise backup with Commvault, monitor daily health, and manage off‑site tape rotations.
• Coordinate monthly patching and security updates across physical servers, cloud VMs, workstations, and MES platforms.
• Support local Manufacturing Execution Systems to prevent production downtime.
• Manage SCCM/MECM imaging, build and deploy standardized corporate images.
• Partner with vendors, assist budgeting, and participate in on‑call rotations for 24/7 manufacturing support.

Required profile

• 5+ years hands‑on experience with Windows Server (2016‑2025) and VMware ESXi/vCenter.
• 5+ years managing workloads in Microsoft Azure.
• Strong background in Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SharePoint, and file/print services.
• Proven experience with Commvault backup and tape library operations.
• Experience supporting industrial IT environments or MES.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; self‑motivated and able to work autonomously.
• Demonstrated project and time‑management skills, able to handle multiple complex tasks.
