Business Architect (part-time contract)

About the role

Applaudo is seeking a Business Architect to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and cost‑justified technology solutions. This part‑time contractor role (22 hours/week) starts with a 3‑month term and may be extended.

Key responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions and create architecture proposals, non‑functional requirements, and technical roadmaps.
• Design solutions for high‑volume data and media workloads, ensuring scalability, resilience, storage efficiency, and cost control.
• Assess the current technology landscape, identify risks (end‑of‑support, capacity, security) and propose modernization plans.
• Evaluate options, justify decisions and budgets with clear trade‑offs and detailed analysis.
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, including solution diagrams, ADRs, technical specifications, and disaster‑recovery plans.
• Collaborate with release and quality processes, defining risk classifications, rollback, backup, and change‑approval strategies.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders in Spanish and English.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in technical leadership or solution architecture.
• Strong analytical skills and a preventive approach to technology risk mitigation.
• Excellent persuasive communication and documentation abilities.

Required skills

• .NET (or equivalent enterprise stack) backend development.
• Azure cloud services: app services, databases, data pipelines, networking, and security.
• Design of distributed, service‑oriented architectures, APIs, integrations, and messaging.
• Data architecture knowledge: relational databases, performance tuning, archiving, retention.
• CI/CD pipelines and code‑quality tools (Azure DevOps or Jenkins, static analysis).
• Agile methodologies and software design patterns.
