Product Owner, Human Capital Management

About the role

The Product Owner acts as the strategic link between human capital stakeholders and technical development teams. You will own the vision, roadmap and continuous improvement of internal HCM platforms covering recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, talent management, learning management and employee self-service, with the aim of maximising business value, improving user experience and ensuring compliance across the employee lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define and communicate the long-term vision and technical roadmap for internal HCM platforms.
• Write user stories, map functional workflows, define acceptance criteria and prioritise the backlog for development sprints.
• Work with HR, Development, Information Security, Payroll, Compliance, Operations, Training, Quality, Workforce Management, Finance and Legal to turn corporate policies into scalable software features.
• Lead sprint planning, take part in daily standups, facilitate backlog grooming and manage technical dependencies with Scrum and engineering teams.
• Drive intuitive self-service features for employees and managers to increase adoption and operational efficiency.
• Ensure features comply with data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) and global information security standards.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing, oversee release cycles and contribute to training documentation for employee rollouts.

Required profile

• 5-7+ years of experience in HCM technology, HRIS analysis or product ownership.
• Proven experience as an Agile Product Owner or Product Manager for HCM systems.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Negotiation and documentation skills, with a track record of reconciling conflicting priorities.

Required skills

• Hands-on expertise with HCM platforms such as Workday, Oracle HCM Cloud or SAP SuccessFactors.
• Strong command of Scrum, Kanban and Agile methodologies.
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence or Azure DevOps.
