Senior Associate – Transaction Tax & Automation

About the role

RSM is seeking a seasoned Senior Associate to join its State and Local Sales and Use Transaction Tax Automation (TTA) practice. You will work with middle‑market and Fortune 1,000 clients, helping them streamline indirect tax technology processes and achieve compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior team members to deliver client engagements focused on indirect tax technology optimization.
• Develop and enhance automated solutions using tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, and Postman.
• Design and implement processes and systems that meet evolving indirect tax compliance requirements.
• Maintain relationships across Advisory, Tax, and Consulting lines to provide multidisciplinary client service.
• Support the national TTA team and act as a primary point of contact for clients on platforms like Avalara, Thomson Reuters OneSource, and Vertex.
• Coach and provide feedback to junior staff, fostering a growth‑oriented environment.

Required profile

• Self‑driven professional with solid experience in sales and use tax automation.
• Proven ability to work on complex indirect tax projects and deliver high‑quality client service.
• Strong communication skills for client interaction and cross‑functional collaboration.
