Senior Rust Engineer - Remote

About the role

Kake is a remote‑first community of senior engineers building high‑performance, memory‑safe backend services for innovative products. As a Senior Rust Engineer you will own complex technical challenges end‑to‑end and help raise engineering standards across mission‑critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, memory‑safe backend services and distributed systems using Rust.
• Write high‑performance concurrent code, applying systems programming principles and async/await patterns with frameworks such as Tokio.
• Guide architectural decisions, mentor team members, and elevate the overall engineering bar.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues in distributed environments.
• Contribute to tooling, best‑practice documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands‑on Rust development.
• Deep understanding of Rust ownership, borrow checker, lifetimes, traits, and macros.
• Strong background in systems programming, multithreading, and performance‑critical applications.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced remote environment.
