About the role

The Electricity Market Analyst will support the planning and monitoring of the national and regional electric system operation. The role involves weekly validation of fuel prices, daily inventory tracking, monthly cost indexing, forecasting, technical analysis, and ensuring compliance with current regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Validate weekly fuel price declarations submitted by thermal generators, ensuring alignment with approved structures.
• Prepare, publish, and confirm monthly indexations of non‑fuel variable costs and start‑stop costs with all generators.
• Validate fuel inventory declarations, compile supporting documentation, and produce periodic inventory reports.
• Review and approve audit reports on variable fuel and non‑fuel costs, and monitor their implementation within regulatory deadlines.
• Assist in scheduling the electric system operation across annual, monthly, weekly, and daily horizons while complying with regulations.
• Develop medium‑term demand forecasts, renewable generation outlooks, maintenance plans, operational cost estimates, and other variables needed for operational planning.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical and commercial data used in planning processes, ensuring data quality and availability.
• Analyze operational conditions of the electric system, execute scheduling, support marginal cost determination, and optimize energy resource usage.
• Support and implement improvement projects for operational planning processes.
• Participate in regulatory change implementation and update operational procedures.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations on operational planning for decision‑making.

Required profile

• Experience in electricity market operations and planning.
• Strong understanding of fuel price validation, inventory management, and cost indexing.
• Familiarity with national and regional electricity regulations.
• Ability to produce technical forecasts, analyses, and reports.
• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and data‑management skills.
