Environmental and Social Consultant (Latin America & Caribbean)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated professional with expertise in environmental and social risk assessment to support IDB Invest’s investment projects across Latin America and the Caribbean. The consultant will ensure that financed operations comply with the Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy and contribute to sustainable development objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Support origination, execution and monitoring of investment projects, integrating ESG considerations.
• Conduct environmental and social due diligence and risk assessments for investment operations.
• Design and implement mitigation measures and action plans.
• Provide technical input on ESG matters throughout the project cycle and monitor compliance with standards.
• Assist clients in meeting ESG requirements and strengthen their ESG capacity.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in engineering, environmental management, law, environmental sciences, anthropology or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in Latin America and the Caribbean on environmental and social impact assessments, management plans and monitoring.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English (both written and spoken); French or Portuguese is a plus.
• Eligibility to work in the job location without sponsorship and no close family members employed by IDB entities.
