Equipment & Claims Representative

About the role

The Equipment & Claims Representative processes claims against motor carriers to recover loss or damage to Crowley owned or leased cargo equipment. This hybrid position works independently to obtain recoveries and supports the intermodal logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the intake portal, log new equipment damage and cargo claims, assign them to claim adjusters and acknowledge receipt.
• Obtain repair cost estimates, coordinate transport of damaged equipment to approved vendors, and gather documentation for each claim.
• Analyze legal liability based on bills of lading and contracts, reserve claims within authority, and issue timely payments.
• Prepare and submit billing documentation to motor carriers or third parties, monitor payments and negotiate contested claims.
• File additional recovery claims against third parties for damage to Crowley property such as trucks, terminals and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures governing claims handling.

Required profile

• Associate degree or equivalent post‑high‑school training, or comparable experience.
• 2–4 years of experience in intermodal freight, logistics, or claims handling.
• Understanding of intermodal operations, freight and insurance documentation, and commercial transactions.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint).
• Experience with logistics software such as Riskconnect, C‑Sight, RMIS, Magaya Live Tracker, WAM, and ReeferConnect.
