Financial Controller – Hybrid (El Salvador)

About the role

The Functionary is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a high‑performing finance team that supports multiple U.S.‑based organizations. This hybrid position, based in El Salvador, focuses on delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and driving automation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full‑cycle accounting operations for several U.S. clients.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP and ASC 606.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and strategic recommendations.
• Optimize ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, and Sage Intacct.
• Drive automation using Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate and AI‑powered accounting tools.
• Develop financial dashboards, KPI reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Mentor accounting teams and ensure compliance with audits, tax requirements and internal controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 4+ years supporting U.S. companies under US GAAP.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Advanced English proficiency (C1).
