Grants Accounting Specialist – Latin America

About the role

The Grants Accounting Specialist supports financial stewardship across Latin America, managing grant accounting and accounts payable activities while ensuring donor compliance and accurate reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate grant budgets, expenditures and financial reports for compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
• Provide financial guidance on grant management, cost allocation, expense coding and donor compliance to program teams and finance leadership.
• Monitor grant transactions, prepare timely donor reports and manage accounts payable processes, including vendor invoices and employee reimbursements.
• Perform reconciliations of grant‑related, vendor and balance‑sheet accounts and support month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation, prepare schedules for donor and statutory audits, and promote internal‑control enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent certification highly desirable.
• 3‑5 years of experience in accounting, preferably with grant accounting, donor compliance and accounts payable.
• Experience with ERP systems (preferably Workday) and ability to travel throughout the region.

Required skills

• Workday ERP proficiency.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
