HR Generalist – On-site in San Salvador

About the role

The HR Generalist will provide comprehensive human resources and personnel administration support for Carenet Health’s operations in El Salvador. Working on‑site in San Salvador, the role handles employee records, onboarding, payroll, attendance, employee relations and compliance with local labor regulations. The position also coordinates occupational health and safety and employee well‑being activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and digitize employment contracts, personnel files and employee documentation while ensuring confidentiality.
• Process payroll inputs, including medical leave, vacation, deductions and garnishment orders, and distribute payroll slips.
• Manage attendance, medical leave validation, vacation balances and coordinate with supervisors on performance and behavioral issues.
• Handle employee relations inquiries, disciplinary actions, case escalations and investigations.
• Administer terminations, final settlements and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
• Update government and statutory platforms (Ministry of Labor, ISSS, AFP, INCAF, FSV) and process related documentation.
• Coordinate occupational health and safety actions and monitor workplace risk situations.
• Support office administration, facilities management and employee well‑being programs such as recognition events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communication or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience as an HR Generalist or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of El Salvador labor laws and HR best practices.
• Proven ability to manage employee relations cases and maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS is a plus.
