About the role

The position involves applying El Salvador's Structural Survey Form to identify building typologies, construction irregularities, and warning signs. The goal is to prioritize future detailed structural evaluations through nationwide field inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct exterior and interior building inspections following institutional protocols.
• Complete technical survey sheets with photographic evidence and field sketches.
• Apply classification rules to assign a priority level for each building.
• Escalate critical or mandatory cases to a senior structural engineer for detailed review.
• Participate in calibration sessions to align evaluation criteria among peers.

Required profile

• Civil Engineering degree.
• 2–3 years of experience in structural design, supervision, inspection, quality control, or rehabilitation.
• Practical knowledge of masonry, reinforced‑concrete frames, steel structures, and mixed‑system constructions.
• Desirable training in seismic vulnerability, structural pathology, FEMA P‑154 or ASCE/SEI 41.
• Commitment to technical rigor, accurate documentation, professional ethics, and recognizing the limits of visual inspections.
