Ingeniero Residente – Supervisión de obra industrial

About the role

The Resident Engineer will represent and protect the interests of Discovery Environmental Corp. during the execution of Discovery Park, an industrial warehouse and new plant complex in El Salvador. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role ensures that the general contractor complies with design plans, schedule, budget and quality standards throughout the project.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily construction activities, verifying compliance with drawings, technical specifications and Salvadoran regulations.
• Review and technically validate the general contractor’s payment estimates before forwarding to Finance.
• Monitor the project schedule weekly, identify deviations and propose recovery plans.
• Assess technical and cost impact of change orders and extras prior to approval.
• Document quality non‑conformities and coordinate corrective actions with the contractor.
• Ensure all municipal, environmental and occupational safety permits (OPAMSS and applicable norms) are obtained.
• Maintain construction logbooks, meeting minutes and the technical‑administrative archive.
• Prepare periodic reports on physical, financial and quality progress for the Project Manager.
• Coordinate final hand‑over, including punch‑list closure, as‑built drawings, manuals and warranties.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Architecture, with a valid professional license in El Salvador.
• 5–7 years of experience supervising or residing on construction sites, preferably industrial, warehouse or logistics park projects.
• Proven experience representing the owner’s interests against a general contractor.
• Full‑time availability on‑site for the entire project duration.
• Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, proactivity and analytical detail‑orientation.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic plans.
• Project scheduling tools (MS Project or equivalent).
• Construction cost control and budgeting.
• Knowledge of Salvadoran construction regulations (OPAMSS, VMVDU) and occupational health & safety.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
