Landscape Technician – Grounds Maintenance

About the role

The Landscape Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving the grounds at the Cooperative Security Location on Comalapa Air Base. The role includes routine lawn care, planting, irrigation management, and pest control to ensure a safe and attractive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform lawn mowing, hedge trimming, mulching, and minor repairs of outdoor spaces.
• Plant, water, fertilize, prune, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers and other vegetation.
• Install, adjust, and maintain sprinkler and irrigation systems.
• Execute weed, pest and fertilizer control in compliance with Salvadoran regulations.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and tractors.
• Prepare outdoor areas for adverse weather by securing furniture, covering items and positioning sandbags.
• Order, track and manage supplies and equipment needed for landscaping activities.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment, report malfunctions and perform preventive maintenance.

Required profile

• High school diploma; at least one year of grounds‑keeping experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Embassy security clearance.
• Valid Salvadoran driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Pass a drug/alcohol test and possible medical evaluation.
• Practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and CSL safety practices.
• Willingness to work alternate shifts, weekends and holidays, and to perform duties in extreme weather.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform frequent kneeling, crouching, and climbing.

Required skills

• Operation of landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, tractors).
• Irrigation system installation, adjustment and maintenance.
• Application of herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers according to regulations.
