Legal Counsel – Public Sector & Compliance

About the role

Applaudo is seeking an agile Legal Counsel to support public sector engagements and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The role is full‑time, hybrid, and based in San Salvador, offering the opportunity to influence deal closure and business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal support for public sector bidding processes, including review of Terms of Reference and subcontractor documentation.
• Lead weekly legal reviews of public tender opportunities and contribute to go/no‑go decisions.
• Conduct monthly compliance audits, maintain the corporate Compliance Matrix, and generate actionable risk reports.
• Implement automated alerts and tracking workflows to meet tender and compliance deadlines.
• Present legal findings and recommendations to the Head of Legal Affairs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent) with active bar admission.
• 3–5+ years of experience in public procurement law, labor law, regulatory compliance, or corporate legal advisory.
• Strong legal reasoning, ability to adapt quickly to new regulatory frameworks, and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Professional proficiency in Spanish and English; advanced English preferred.

Required skills

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts under tight deadlines.
• Deep knowledge of public bidding processes, Terms of Reference analysis, and labor law.
• Stakeholder management across sales, finance, people experience, and external parties.
