Plumbing & Sprinkler Systems Estimator

About the role

A pre-construction team is looking for an analytical, highly detailed Plumbing & Sprinkler Systems Estimator. You will be the key technical specialist responsible for interpreting specifications and carrying out complete quantity takeoffs of hydro-sanitary and fire protection systems, combining engineering judgment with experience reading complex blueprints and using digital takeoff software.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret specifications and read complex blueprints for plumbing and sprinkler systems
• Perform component-based material take-offs from shop drawings and prepare drawings from supplied plans and sketches
• Calculate project time and budget estimates based on materials and resources, and manage the department's day-to-day workflow and project priorities
• Ensure finished projects meet customer and project requirements

Required profile

• Advanced English (upper intermediate, advanced or proficient)
• Verifiable engineering or architectural background and experience
• 2+ years of construction estimating experience, with hands-on knowledge of plumbing and sprinkler systems
• Hydraulic fundamentals, blueprint symbology and scales, and ability to draft, layout and calculate
• Attention to detail, organization, communication and prioritization skills

Required skills

• Plumbing systems: domestic water networks, water heating and hydronic equipment, drainage, sprinkler systems, fire mains and standpipes, pumping systems, piping materials and fixtures
• Estimating software: Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff or equivalent
• Excel for material lists; AutoCAD navigation, with Revit/BIM familiarity a plus
• Desirable: PlanSwift and similar software
