Programme Associate - School Feeding and Social Protection

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is hiring a national programme associate (SC6 level) in San Salvador, El Salvador, for a 12-month assignment within the Social Protection, Nutrition and School Feeding unit. The post supports school feeding and social protection activities and other programme work of interest to the country office.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for project and programme management, including processes for school feeding and social protection, in line with WFP goals and policies.
• Keep project and programme data recorded accurately and in time.
• Generate evidence and learning to compare results and inform project decisions.
• Coordinate with key actors such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, municipalities and strategic partners.
• Prepare complex reports and data analyses and make recommendations to supervisors.
• Work with internal counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, execution and monitoring of ongoing projects.
• Support capacity building for WFP staff, partners and the national government.

Required profile

• University degree in International Relations, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Social Sciences or related fields.
• At least 6 years of experience in public or private sector programme or project management, with at least 3 years coordinating projects in social protection, education, food security or nutrition.
• Complete Spanish reading and writing; advanced spoken and written English is desirable.
• Selected candidates may be recommended for the country office roster.

Required skills

• Understanding of the project cycle and food assistance modalities (food, cash, vouchers).
• Basic Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and SAP.
• Project management knowledge, strong organisation, communication and teamwork skills.
