Security Operations Analyst

About the role

The Security Operations Analyst monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of security controls, investigates threats, and supports incident response across systems and networks. This role enhances vulnerability and threat management processes, applies structured analytic techniques, and communicates risk insights to IT leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, evaluate and test the effectiveness of existing security controls.
• Monitor systems for attempts to bypass security controls by internal and external actors.
• Communicate control effectiveness to IT leadership and business stakeholders.
• Execute and improve vulnerability management processes, including secure code review, penetration testing, red‑team exercises and vulnerability assessments.
• Execute and improve threat management and cyber‑incident response processes such as SIEM response, blacklist management, EDR investigations, and threat hunting.
• Apply structured analytic thinking to routine operations and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Support security standards, architecture, project work and other information‑security functions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in information security.
• Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Solid understanding of security across operating systems, applications, networking, cloud and mobile environments.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams through security incidents.

Required skills

• Python (or similar scripting language) for automation and orchestration.
• SIEM platforms for log analysis and incident response.
• Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools.
• Vulnerability assessment and management.
• Penetration testing and red‑team methodologies.
• Secure code review techniques.
• Threat intelligence and threat hunting.
• Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) solutions.
