Senior Associate – Risk Controls & Compliance

About the role

As a Senior Associate in Risk Controls & Compliance, you will join RSM’s Risk Consulting Standards and Quality team. You will influence the governance, quality, and effectiveness of the technology resources that support audit engagements, working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of the firm’s System of Quality Management as it relates to technology resources.
• Assist in establishing audit quality objectives, identifying quality risks, and designing technology‑related controls to mitigate those risks.
• Advise on the creation of control documentation, including IT process narratives, risk and control matrices, and operational documentation.
• Conduct technology risk assessments, evaluate control design and operating effectiveness, and document findings.
• Apply problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills to identify internal control deficiencies and recommend appropriate actions.

Required profile

• Professional experience in risk management, governance, or internal controls, preferably within audit or professional services.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex technology environments.
• Excellent judgment, professional skepticism, and the ability to communicate findings to internal stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IT general controls and automated control design.
• Familiarity with audit software tools and AI‑enabled capabilities.
• Experience documenting IT process narratives, risk matrices, and control operation procedures.
