Senior Associate – SALT Transaction Tax & Automation

About the role

RSM is seeking a self‑driven Senior Associate to strengthen its State and Local Sales and Use Transaction Tax Automation (TTA) practice. You will work within a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment supporting middle‑market and Fortune 1000 clients.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior team members to deliver client engagements focused on optimizing indirect tax technology processes and system solutions.
• Develop and support automated solutions using tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, and Postman.
• Design and implement enhanced processes and systems that meet evolving indirect tax compliance requirements.
• Maintain relationships across Advisory, Tax, and Consulting lines to deliver multidisciplinary client service.
• Provide day‑to‑day client support for indirect tax platforms including Avalara, Thomson Reuters OneSource, and Vertex.
• Coach and give feedback to supervised staff, fostering a growth‑oriented environment.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science.
• At least 2 years of experience providing indirect tax consulting services.
• Functional and technical experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP).
• Relevant professional designation such as CPA, EA or tax‑specific certifications (CMI, APS) is preferred.
