Senior UI Designer, Design Systems (Remote, San Salvador)

About the role

Blacksmith Agency builds websites for clients across the US. As Senior UI Designer, Design Systems, you build the Figma design systems the team ships to every client site: tokens, variables, modes and component libraries that developers use without asking questions. This is a full-time, in-house seat on the team, and it must be your only job.

Key responsibilities

• Own the token architecture in Figma: variables, modes and semantic naming, from primitives to components.
• Build component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Provide handoff and documentation so a developer or build pipeline can execute the system without questions.
• Work on several client brands at once, each distinct but with the same structure underneath.

Required profile

• 4+ years as a product, UI or design systems designer, ideally on an in-house team.
• A design system you personally built in Figma with variables, modes and tokens, which you can explain in detail.
• Experience handing a system to developers and keeping Figma and code in step.
• Strong spoken English, presenting and defending the system on live calls with a US team.
• Full-time availability overlapping US business hours.
• Not a fit if you freelance, run a studio or keep other clients alongside this job, or if your work is mainly page layouts or marketing pages without tokens or variables.

To apply, submit a short application and then complete a 6-minute Predictive Index assessment with the same email; qualified candidates take a 20-minute recorded interview in English about the systems they have built.
