Tax Manager - Liquefied Natural Gas Projects, El Salvador

About the role

Invenergy, a privately held developer, owner and operator of power infrastructure, is looking for a Tax Manager for its San Salvador office. The role covers tax and legal compliance for liquefied natural gas-to-power production and related projects in El Salvador, working closely with several functions to meet current and future tax obligations. The position suits a self-starter who is well organized, has excellent computer skills, can multi-task and enjoys new challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all El Salvador tax and legal obligations
• Prepare and submit monthly and annual tax filings, including monthly VAT and withholding tax returns and the annual income tax return
• Work with accounting to check the accuracy of purchasing records used for monthly tax filings
• Maintain a tax compliance tracker to ensure timely filing of all obligations
• Review agreements and contracts so they are properly reported
• Support the monthly close and ensure assigned tasks are completed on time
• Support the annual financial statement audit by preparing workpapers, the audit report and communicating with management and auditors
• Support transfer pricing analysis and country-by-country reporting
• Analyze the impact of current and new tax regulations and propose a workplan to implement them
• Support the implementation and enhancement of internal controls
• Coordinate with Accounting, Tax, Treasury, International Finance Operations and similar teams at the Chicago office

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 10+ years of progressive accounting, tax or audit experience
• Bilingual in Spanish and English, written and spoken
• CPC or CPA equivalent preferred; public accounting firm or multinational organization experience preferred
• Ability to meet monthly, quarterly and annual departmental deadlines
• Strong organization and interpersonal skills, able to work in a cross-functional team
• Preferred: prior experience in energy, construction or real estate
