Venture Capital Investment Consultant

About the role

The IDB Lab Venture Capital Investments unit seeks a dynamic, client‑oriented professional with strong analytical and financial skills to support the investment officer in debt operations within the Loans team.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and screen deal flow for potential debt opportunities, building relationships with private‑sector stakeholders and Investment Officers across the region.
• Assess high‑impact start‑ups, conduct sourcing, screening, structuring and due‑diligence, perform financial analysis and modeling, and draft investment concept notes and memorandums.
• Maintain internal records of debt opportunities and update IDB Lab’s systems throughout the sourcing and screening process.
• Prepare strategic documents and presentations related to the loans portfolio, pipeline, and lead generation.
• Support investment review discussions, supervise debt positions, and coordinate country reports with other IDB Lab units.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business or related field; CFA designation highly valued.
• Minimum 5 years of transactional experience in debt operations within corporate banking, debt funds, or investment banks.
• Proven track record in financial analysis, modeling, investment memoranda preparation, and credit negotiations.
• Fluency in English and Spanish; Portuguese or French a plus.
• Citizenship of a member country and eligibility to work without sponsorship.
