Quality Engineer – Customer Quality Lead

About the role

Join ZF LIFETEC’s global safety team as a Quality Engineer focused on customer quality. Based in Lourdes, you will lead claim handling, drive compliance with automotive quality standards, and support continuous improvement across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead customer quality activities, manage claims and apply fast‑response methodology (containment <24 h, root cause <5 days, action plan <20 days, 8D closure <30 days).
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA and customer‑specific certifications (GM BIQS, Ford MSA, VW Formel Q, BMW).
• Facilitate problem‑solving using 8D, A3, Ishikawa, 5 Why, 5W2H and other tools.
• Conduct internal and external QMS audits and manage audit findings.
• Update PFMEA, control plans and disseminate lessons learned across processes.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of automotive quality management systems and standards.
• Proven experience leading cross‑functional teams in a global environment.
• Advanced English communication skills.

Required skills

• ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA compliance.
• Six Sigma methodology – Black Belt certification (highly desirable).
• Problem‑solving tools: 8D, A3, Ishikawa, 5 Why, 5W2H, PFMEA, control plan.
• Audit management and customer certification handling.
