About the role

The university seeks a Head of Security and Surveillance to lead governance, strategy, and comprehensive protection of institutional security. This senior leader will design risk‑management and business‑continuity policies, safeguarding students, physical assets, and the university’s reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously update institutional security, risk‑management, compliance and business‑continuity policies.
• Identify, evaluate, prioritize and mitigate risks that could disrupt classes or operations, including social threats, natural disasters, health crises and cyber risks.
• Strategically direct institutional response to critical incidents and emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with the Salvadoran Labor Code, Private Security Services Law and General Risk Prevention Law.
• Assess legal impact of security decisions and policies.
• Plan technological development and digital transformation of security processes.
• Draft and keep current the institutional security section, aligning it with the university’s values, mission and growth plan.
• Coordinate relationships with the National Civil Police, ministries, embassies and human‑rights organizations.
• Lead, supervise and develop the security and surveillance staff.
• Design and coordinate internal training programs to strengthen the team’s knowledge and competencies.

Required profile

• University degree in Business Administration, Military Administration, Legal Sciences or a related field.
• At least 5 years of proven managerial or director‑level experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Salvadoran Labor Code, Private Security Services Law and General Risk Prevention Law.
• Experience in designing institutional compliance, security policies and legal impact assessments.
• Ability to plan technological initiatives and digital transformation for security.
• Proven expertise in integrated risk management, business continuity and crisis handling.
• Leadership, decisive decision‑making and strategic command during critical incidents.
• Effective communication with public authorities, security forces, international bodies and human‑rights organizations.
