Network Engineer - Juniper Focused

About the role

AireSpring, a global managed network services provider working with more than 265 carriers and ISPs, is hiring a Network Engineer focused on Juniper equipment. The Network Operation Centre (NOC) has three main goals: ensure maximum service availability and performance, provision customer network services on core equipment, and support the Engineering and other technical teams. Engineers work closely with technical support, service provisioning and sales teams, and may join a 24x7 call-out rotation once their knowledge and confidence grow.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain monitoring systems, and carry out full fault troubleshooting, problem isolation and corrective action, escalating to network engineering when needed
• Liaise with third-party suppliers to troubleshoot problems, perform upgrades, resolve service impacts, manage network changes and escalate as required
• Provision and configure core network devices and tools, such as IP assignment, core network configuration, DNS setup, monitoring software, NNI ports and services, and implement change management procedures
• Build, install and configure network equipment, and maintain hardware, serial numbers, security and configuration audits
• Write custom monitoring plugins and configure bespoke graphing
• Maintain the NOC wiki and technical documentation of processes and procedures
• Act as Tier 3 escalation point for core network datacenter services, access networks and AireSpring services
• Participate in a 24x7 call-out rotation if required

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in network operations (mandatory)
• Advanced experience in the listed areas is preferred
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper and Adtran routing, switching and firewall devices
• Ability to work in a global team in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision

Required skills

• Certifications such as JNCIA or CCNA are required; JNCIP or CCNP preferred
• Strong troubleshooting knowledge of TCP/IP routing protocols (STP, VRRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IPSec) and WAN technologies
• Knowledge of Linux networking and centralized device monitoring tools
• Preferred: VOIP, VPNs, security protocols, SD-WAN deployment, and strong attention to detail and multitasking
