Retail Category Development Expert

About the role

Colgate-Palmolive is looking for a Retail Category Development Expert in San Salvador, El Salvador. As a consultant to its major retail partners, you will influence how consumers experience the brands in-store, turning category data into strategic growth initiatives that capture new business opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Independently lead the design, negotiation and execution of multi-year category growth strategies and Joint Business Planning (JBP) with key commercial partners to maximise category volume and market penetration.
• Run end-to-end category productivity reviews using syndicated market data and internal metrics to find white-space opportunities, optimise assortment and deliver shopper insights.
• Direct the development and implementation of planograms and floor plans based on established commercial principles to maximise shelf productivity.
• Work with in-store execution teams, Retail Environment Managers, Brand Marketing and client decision-makers in top-to-top meetings to align on growth initiatives and present results.
• Track the effectiveness of in-store shelf strategies with customised scorecards and field visits, and refine commercial tactics accordingly.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Category Manager, Category Development Specialist or Shopper Specialist.
• At least 3 years of overall professional experience in the FMCG / CPG industry.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in fast-paced environments.
• Advanced English, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Technical mastery of Excel (preferred)
• Preferred: space planning software such as JDA/Blue Yonder or Spaceman, and Nielsen data tools
• Preferred: proven experience running JBP negotiations with major regional retailers
