Accounting Specialist (Bookkeeping & Financial Reporting)

About the role

We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to join a fast‑paced team that supports small businesses and entrepreneurs. In this client‑focused position you will handle monthly bookkeeping, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure businesses have reliable data for year‑end reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Categorize and maintain financial transactions in Xero.
• Reconcile bank, credit‑card and other financial accounts.
• Prepare and review Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet statements.
• Review payroll and tax information using Gusto.
• Complete monthly bookkeeping close activities for a high volume of accounts.
• Manage up to 100 client accounts per month, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Collaborate with accounting teams and advisors to maintain high‑quality records.
• Provide clear, professional support to clients via email.
• Identify discrepancies or issues and escalate them appropriately.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience supporting U.S.‑based or multinational clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA a plus).
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, tax principles, or SOX compliance is advantageous.
• Strong ability to manage high‑volume workloads and competing priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and written English.
• Customer‑focused mindset with high integrity, accountability, professionalism and teamwork.
