Associate - Moody's Local

About the role

Moody's Local in El Salvador is looking for an Associate to join its credit analysis team. You will support the credit analysis and rating process for financial institutions, insurance companies and securities firms, working closely with experienced lead analysts and gaining exposure to several asset classes and rating methodologies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary credit analysis of a portfolio of financial institutions, insurance companies and securities firms under the guidance of senior analysts
• Analyze financial statements, asset performance and economic data, and carry out qualitative assessments of business strategy, financial policy and governance, as well as bond indentures and other legal documents
• Build, maintain and update financial models, analytical tools and spreadsheets, and prepare charts, reports and written commentary aligned with Moody's methodologies
• Support credit monitoring and surveillance of issuers, prepare data for surveillance, update preliminary analyses and escalate potential risks
• Take part in external meetings with issuers, financial advisors and other market participants as needed
• Help with routine administrative and ad hoc analytical tasks and work collaboratively with analysts and associates

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, accounting, business administration or a related field
• 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred, including internships
• Background in corporate finance, accounting and financial analysis
• Ability to interpret financial statements and market data, with excellent written and verbal English
• Curiosity to learn Moody's methodologies and credit rating processes

Required skills

• Power BI for data analysis, reporting and presentations
• Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts and interest in using AI tools responsibly
