Business Architect (Temporary Contract)

About the role

Applaudo Studios is looking for a Business Architect to turn business needs into scalable, secure and cost-justified technology solutions. The role works closely with business stakeholders, technology owners and development teams, leading discovery sessions, evaluating options and justifying decisions with clear trade-offs. It is offered for an initial period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions and turn business needs into architecture proposals, non-functional requirements and technical roadmaps.
• Design solutions for high-volume data and media workloads, covering scalability, resilience, storage and cost.
• Assess the current technology landscape, anticipate risks such as end of support, capacity and security, and propose modernization plans.
• Evaluate options and justify decisions and budgets with clear trade-offs and detailed analysis.
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation: solution diagrams, architecture decision records (ADRs) and technical specifications, including disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with release and quality processes: risk classification of changes, rollback and backup strategies, and change approval.
• Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders in Spanish and English, share project knowledge across the team, and identify process improvements and new business opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, including 2+ years in technical leadership or solution architecture.
• Strong ability to document architecture and justify decisions and budgets to a client.
• Persuasive communication skills and strong analytical skills with a preventive approach to technology risks.

Required skills

• Backend architecture with .NET or an equivalent enterprise stack.
• Cloud architecture on Azure (app services, databases, data pipelines, networking and security).
• Distributed and service-oriented architectures: APIs, integrations and messaging.
• Data architecture: relational databases, performance, archiving and retention.
• CI/CD and code quality practices (Azure DevOps or Jenkins, static analysis).
• Agile methodologies, software testing strategy and design patterns.
