Compliance Officer – Digital Asset Exchange

About the role

NexPlace, a regulated digital asset exchange in El Salvador, is seeking a Compliance Officer to lead its AML/CFT, KYC and overall compliance programmes. The role will support the company’s expansion across Latin America while ensuring strict adherence to local and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and continuously improve the company's AML/CFT, KYC, and compliance programmes.
• Ensure compliance with El Salvador’s Digital Assets Law, FATF recommendations and other applicable regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments, CDD/EDD reviews, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and investigations of suspicious activity.
• Prepare and submit regulatory and suspicious activity reports to the relevant authorities.
• Coordinate regulatory audits, examinations and compliance reviews.
• Review contracts, corporate documents, policies and regulatory filings.
• Act as a primary contact for regulators, financial institutions and strategic partners.
• Support business expansion initiatives by ensuring regulatory readiness in new jurisdictions.
• Promote a strong culture of compliance, governance and risk management throughout the organisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in compliance, AML/KYC, financial crime prevention, risk management or regulatory affairs.
• Experience in crypto, digital assets, fintech, banking or financial services is highly preferred.
• Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
