Data Engineer – Data Conversions

About the role

Enroute is seeking a Data Engineer to join its Conversions team and lead the migration of insurance policy data from legacy administration systems to a modern policy administration platform. This analysis‑first position combines deep data investigation with hands‑on engineering to ensure accurate, validated data loads.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed data analysis, tracing and reconciling information across databases and files.
• Design and implement source‑to‑target data mappings and transformation logic.
• Resolve data quality issues and deliver validated data loads.
• Write complex SQL queries, views, stored procedures, CTEs and window functions daily.
• Leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development.
• Collaborate with a conversion manager for mentorship and guidance.
• Participate in the full migration lifecycle from discovery through production cut‑over.

• Experience with data migration or conversion projects is highly preferred, especially in insurance or financial domains.

Required skills

• SQL (advanced query writing, analysis, transformation).
• SQL Server – queries, views, stored procedures, CTEs, window functions.
• ETL processes and data validation/cleansing techniques.
• Cloud database experience on AWS (RDS, S3, Secrets Manager).
• Excel for data analysis and legacy data review.
• Version control with GitHub.
• Project management tools such as Jira.
• Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum).
• Secure handling of sensitive financial data and PII.
• Use of AI coding assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot) for prompt engineering and automated analysis.
