IT Support Technician

About the role

The IT Support Technician reports to the Chief of ServiceDesk and provides first‑line assistance for low to mid‑complexity incidents across Gildan’s global manufacturing sites. Working closely with an IT Support Engineer, the role involves remote troubleshooting, incident triage and on‑call support for end‑users.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve incidents and service requests received by the Global ServiceDesk.
• Deliver first‑level technical support via phone, email or in‑person.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and mobile device issues, escalating when necessary.
• Monitor critical servers, network infrastructure and respond to alerts following escalation procedures.
• Collaborate with operations centre and local support teams to provide real‑time updates and consistent service.
• Maintain and update the inventory of IT assets.

Required profile

• Education in Systems Engineering or a related field; IT certifications are a plus.
• 1–3 years of overall IT experience, including at least 1 year in a help‑desk environment.
• Ability to triage incidents, determine severity and prioritize effectively.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with internal customers, support teams and vendors.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ticketing systems.
• Hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Mobile device support, particularly iPhone.
• Server and network monitoring.
• IT asset inventory management.
