Legal Counsel – Regulatory, Transactional & Corporate

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Generalist Attorney to join the Legal team of Ria Money Transfer, supporting our expanding footprint across Latin America and the Caribbean. The role is based in San Salvador, El Salvador or Querétaro, Mexico and reports to the Legal Director – LAC.

Key responsibilities

• Own regulatory licensing, authorizations, registrations and supervisory interactions for money‑transfer and payment services across multiple LAC jurisdictions.
• Prepare and coordinate complete regulatory application packages, including business plans, governance structures, internal policies, AML/CFT frameworks and IT/security descriptions.
• Manage regulatory feedback cycles, remediation plans and post‑authorization commitments.
• Support ongoing supervisory obligations, renewals, notifications, scope extensions and regulatory audits.
• Act as trusted legal advisor to Business Development, Compliance, Finance, Operations, Technology and Treasury.
• Anticipate legal and regulatory risk and provide clear, business‑oriented advice.
• Negotiate complex financial‑services, technology, correspondent, outsourcing and commercial agreements.
• Continuously improve legal processes, templates and documentation.

Required profile

• Qualified attorney with hands‑on experience in financial regulatory regimes across several Latin American jurisdictions.
• Proven ability to lead projects end‑to‑end and manage parallel initiatives at different maturity stages.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance, transactional work and AML/CFT compliance.
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams and external counsel.
• Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency preferred.
