Movement Operations Associate – Travel Coordination

About the role

The Movement Operations Associate supports the planning and execution of travel for migrants and refugees under IOM’s mandate. Working under the National Movement Operations Manager and the Senior Movement Operations Associate, the role ensures travel arrangements are made efficiently and in compliance with IOM policies.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, schedule and book travel for individuals, including distribution of Advance Booking Notifications, updates, cancellations and departure notices.
• Compile and analyse travel cost data using I‑GATOR and prepare travel loan paperwork according to SOPs.
• Create movement data files and maintain accurate records for IOM accountability.
• Identify vulnerable beneficiaries, assign escorts, and conduct pre‑departure counselling on special needs.
• Verify identities and documents before issuing travel documentation.
• Provide regular feedback to supervisors and report any issues or non‑compliance.

Required profile

• High school diploma with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, International Relations or related field with 3 years of experience.
• Prior experience in movement operations, transportation management or resettlement programmes.
• Fluency in English (or French/Spanish) as required by IOM.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Computer literacy and ability to use IOM’s internal systems (e.g., I‑GATOR).
