Platform Engineer I - ELS

About the role

BHN's Operations Command Centre (OCC) is looking for a Platform Engineer with strong technical foundations, excellent problem-solving ability and a passion for building reliable systems. This is not a traditional Platform Engineering or NOC role: you will spend time both engineering solutions and operating production platforms, maintaining the health of BHN's production services while building automation, observability and AI-driven capabilities. You will also take an active part in Major Incident Management, working with engineering teams to diagnose and restore services during critical incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the 24x7 on-call rotation, monitor production health with observability platforms, lead or support Major Incident bridges, perform technical triage and drive service restoration, and run post-incident reviews.
• Build automation, engineering tools, dashboards, alerts and health scores; improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment safety; create self-service and auto-remediation capabilities.
• Design alerts that reduce alert fatigue, improve visibility with metrics, logs and traces, define SLIs and SLOs, and use operational data to drive engineering decisions.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, build AI-powered incident summarisation and diagnostic tooling, and create operational copilots and engineering assistants.

Required profile

• Advance English proficiency.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, Technical Operations or a similar technical role.
• Strong Linux fundamentals, exposure to production support or Major Incident Management, and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Nice to have: experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Splunk, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ServiceNow, Terraform, CI/CD engineering, distributed systems, FinTech or high-availability production environments.
