Senior GCP DevOps Engineer (Onsite)

About the role

Applaudo Studios is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with deep hands-on experience building secure, cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and delivering infrastructure entirely through Terraform and GitLab CI/CD. The role combines platform engineering, cloud security leadership and multi-cloud connectivity across AWS, GCP and legacy systems, turning infrastructure into a self-service product for development teams. It is a 3-month assignment (possible extension) with a hybrid model of 3 to 4 days on site and 1 to 2 days remote, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Define golden paths that enable self-service deployments for development teams.
• Guarantee infrastructure immutability so that no production changes occur outside Terraform.
• Build and evolve CI/CD workflows that move the team toward zero manual deployments.
• Lead cloud security by integrating security controls into the delivery workflow, including Binary Authorization and network policies.
• Implement secure multi-cloud and hybrid connectivity between AWS, GCP and legacy systems.
• Apply proactive FinOps practices through quotas and cost alerts.
• Develop Kubernetes operators and controllers that automate complex tasks.
• Transfer knowledge through pair programming sessions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, platform engineering and cloud environments.
• Proven technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge-transfer skills.
• Working knowledge of English; Spanish is the primary language of communication within the project.

Required skills

• Advanced expertise in complex, reusable Terraform modules and an immutable, everything-as-code strategy.
• Multi-environment GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including deployment orchestration and pipeline security.
• Advanced GCP cloud-native architecture, plus AWS and hybrid connectivity.
• Binary Authorization, network policies and Kubernetes operators and controllers.
• Working knowledge of FinOps practices.
• Certifications such as HashiCorp Terraform Professional, GitLab Certified CI/CD and Google Professional Cloud Architect are desired.
