System Administrator (Wintel)

About the role

Gildan, a manufacturer of everyday basic apparel, is looking for a System Administrator to oversee, support and secure its localized and global IT infrastructure. This hybrid role covers on-premises Microsoft servers, Microsoft Azure, VMware virtualization and localized manufacturing systems (MES), and acts as the main contact for internal audits, major incidents and security compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Global Wintel team to implement, maintain and troubleshoot physical and virtual architectures, including Dell/Cisco servers, VMware environments and legacy tape libraries.
• Maintain Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SharePoint and file/print server infrastructure.
• Manage Azure Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Managed Instances and other cloud resources.
• Oversee Commvault backups, monitor daily backup health and handle physical tape rotation to offsite locations.
• Coordinate monthly patching cycles across servers, VMs, workstations and MES systems.
• Own the setup, baseline maintenance and support of local MES to prevent production downtime.
• Partner with third-party vendors for tier-3 support and help evaluate vendor services.
• Manage endpoints with SCCM/MECM, including image deployment and package creation.
• Collaborate with the Operations Center on automated monitoring and assist project groups; travel between facilities as needed.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025.
• 5+ years configuring and supporting VMware ESXi and vCenter (6.x, 7.x, 8.x, 9.x).
• 5+ years managing workloads in Microsoft Azure.
• 5+ years with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SharePoint and file/print servers.
• 5+ years supporting SCCM task sequences, image deployments and package maintenance.
• Experience with Commvault and physical tape libraries, and with MES or industrial IT environments.
• English communication skills, autonomy, and willingness to join a rotational on-call schedule.
