Database Administrator (Oracle, SQL Server, Azure, Snowflake)

About the role

Gildan, a manufacturer of everyday basic apparel, is hiring a Database Administrator who reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager. The role ensures the availability, performance and security of Gildan's global database ecosystem across Oracle, SQL Server and cloud solutions. It involves a rotational on-call schedule covering evenings and weekends to support international sites and critical updates outside normal hours.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, configure, maintain and upgrade Oracle, SQL Server and cloud databases (Azure/Snowflake) while enforcing deployment standards
• Troubleshoot bottlenecks through index, memory, CPU and space analysis
• Work with BI and development teams on database design, SQL scripts and stored procedure tuning
• Test and implement environment changes to avoid downtime
• Enforce security policies, manage user profiles, remote access and SOX security documentation
• Maintain and test the Disaster Recovery plan
• Keep documentation, SOPs and software licenses up to date
• Support internal clients and communicate planned and unplanned changes to users
• Research and recommend new technologies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 7-10 years as a production database administrator in a complex, multi-platform environment
• Experience in a regulated environment such as SOX compliance
• Ability to work with infrastructure, BI and development teams across international sites
• Willingness to join a rotational on-call framework

Required skills

• In-depth Oracle and SQL Server administration and performance tuning
• Familiarity with Azure and/or Snowflake (highly advantageous)
• Strong written and verbal communication
