Full Stack AI Automation Engineer

About the role

Puente is recruiting a remote, full-time independent contractor Full Stack AI Automation Engineer for a US client that runs established service businesses such as call centers, field teams, schedules, invoices and customer support. The engineer sits with the operating team, finds work that should not be done by hand and builds the automation that removes it. Pay is $3,500-$4,500 USD per month, Monday to Friday, 9 AM-5 PM ET.

Key responsibilities

• Sit with the operating team, learn the workflow and identify what is worth automating
• Build and ship full stack applications and internal tools end to end
• Build AI automations and agents on top of existing systems: phone, email, scheduling, CRM and billing
• Integrate systems that were never designed to talk to each other, using APIs, webhooks and databases
• Ship prototypes quickly, show them to real users and iterate on feedback
• Keep what you build running and document it so the business does not depend on you being awake
• Explain your work to non-technical people and say no to ideas that are not worth building

Required profile

• 4+ years building software end to end, frontend and backend
• Real automations built with LLMs, not demos; wired into systems people actually use
• Tools such as n8n, Make or Zapier used every day to connect tools that do not integrate
• AI coding tools used every day as part of how you build
• Strong English in speech and writing, able to sit in a call with a business owner and define the right problem
• Has built and launched things on their own, preferring something working on Friday to perfection in a month

Required skills

• TypeScript or Python, strong in APIs, databases and cloud deployment
• LLM-based automations (OpenAI, Claude or similar)
• Integration tools such as n8n, Make or Zapier
