Funded Traineeship - Political, Press & Information Section, EU Delegation to El Salvador

About the role

The EU Delegation to El Salvador offers a funded traineeship of up to 6 months within its Political, Press & Information Section. The trainee supports the communication and public diplomacy activities of the Delegation, with a focus on increasing the visibility and outreach of the European Union through creative storytelling. The tentative start date is November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Create engaging digital content for the Delegation's social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X and others) to increase audience engagement.
• Produce photo and video coverage of official meetings, field visits, cultural activities, interviews, conferences and public events.
• Assist in planning, organising and promoting public diplomacy events such as festivals, cultural activities, conferences, runs, exhibitions, Europe Month and Europe Day.
• Contribute ideas for reaching wider and younger audiences through podcasts, radio collaborations, media outreach, trivia and interactive content.
• Draft communication materials, social media captions, newsletters, press content and promotional texts.
• Support relations with media outlets, universities, civil society organisations, sponsors and cultural partners.
• Monitor social media trends and engagement metrics and suggest new initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree in communications, journalism, audiovisual production, marketing, graphic design, public relations, international relations or a related field.
• Excellent command of English and Spanish, written and spoken.
• Candidates must have less than one year of professional experience after graduation by the signing of the traineeship agreement.
• Interest in European affairs, culture and international cooperation is an advantage.

Required skills

• Experience with photography, video editing, social media content creation and graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or similar) is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of current social media trends and audience engagement strategies is highly desirable.

What we offer

• A monthly grant to cover living expenses.
• All travel, visa, insurance and accommodation costs are borne by the trainee.
