Infection Prevention & Control Consultant – COVID‑19

About the role

Palladium is seeking an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Consultant to support the USAID HP+ Activity in El Salvador. The consultant will work closely with the Ministry of Health and local partners to strengthen IPC measures for COVID‑19 across health facilities and community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update Ministry of Health infection‑prevention guidelines to incorporate COVID‑19 standards.
• Develop job aids, training materials, and information sheets on IPC for frontline health workers.
• Provide on‑site advice and training to health facilities caring for COVID‑19 patients and to facilities in hotspot areas.
• Design basic IPC protocols for home‑based care of quarantined cases.
• Assist with procurement decisions for IPC equipment and supplies.
• Monitor IPC data with local partners, ensure compliance, and apply improvement methods.

Required profile

• Experience working with ministries of health or international health programs.
• Demonstrated expertise in infection prevention and control, preferably in pandemic contexts.
• Strong ability to develop training materials and deliver capacity‑building sessions.
• Excellent communication skills for advising health workers and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of internationally recommended IPC standards for COVID‑19.
• Ability to create and adapt IPC guidelines, job aids, and training curricula.
• Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting IPC data.
