Network Engineer - Juniper Focused (NOC)

About the role

Spectrotel and AireSpring, which together run a managed network services platform covering connectivity, networking, security and communications, are hiring a Network Engineer for its Network Operation Centre (NOC). The NOC aims to keep services available and performing well, provisions customer network services on core equipment and supports the Engineering and other technical teams. Engineers work closely with technical support, service provisioning and sales teams, and may later join a 24x7 call-out rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain monitoring systems, and carry out full fault troubleshooting, problem isolation and corrective action, escalating to network engineering when needed
• Liaise with third-party suppliers to troubleshoot problems, perform upgrades, resolve service impacts, manage network changes and escalate as required
• Provision and configure core network devices and tools, such as IP assignment, core network configuration, DNS setup, monitoring software, NNI ports and services, and implement change management procedures
• Build, install and configure network equipment, and maintain hardware, serial numbers, security and configuration audits
• Write custom monitoring plugins, configure bespoke graphing, and maintain the NOC wiki and technical documentation
• Act as Tier 3 escalation point for core network datacentre services, access networks and AireSpring services
• Develop knowledge of network and system administration, and take part in a 24x7 call-out rotation if required

Required profile

• 5+ years of network operation experience; advanced experience in the listed areas is preferred
• Certifications such as JNCIA or CCNA are required; JNCIP or CCNP preferred
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise work, analyse complex situations and solve problems under pressure
• Ability to work in a global team with limited supervision

Required skills

• TCP/IP routing protocols (STP, VRRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IPSec)
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper and Adtran routers, switches and firewalls
• Knowledge of WAN technologies, SD-WAN deployment, VoIP, VPNs and security protocols
• Linux networking and centralized device monitoring tools
